Can this possibly work?

It's like an electric tennis racket. You're supposed to hit mosquitoes with it. Seriously.

We're heading off to Sidoarjo tomorrow, and I'm not sure how much internet access we'll have, so posting may get a bit irregular ...

These are good fun. They are battery powered, so when you swat the mosquito you press a button and they get zapped. Most satisfying flash of light and crackle as they meet their end. If only they came in a mains-powered version ....

this is pretty funny. it's like the aerobic version of the electric bug zapper you hang off a tree in the backyard; same result, much more effort!

ps - good luck on your Sidoarjo trip.

that thing is real super fun. It does very little to the mossy population unless you really throw yourself into a killing spree. My only problem was that it emits some sort of sound that freaks the hell out of my dog so i had to stop playing with mine.

but trust me, there are few things more satisfying than mossy slaughter - by hand.

Hmm, we don't have a dog, so maybe I'll try it. Sounds worth it for the entertainment value alone. And the mosquitoes here do seem kind of slow and bumbling. They just fly these vague loop-di-loops and never actually land on you so you can kill them ... until you're asleep or otherwise defenseless, when they proceed to bite the hell out of your ankles.

there's another fun(ny) way: take a metal plate, apply some oil on it, and use it by swing it back and forth, eventually it will catch mosquitoes sticked to the oil. it works :D but you also throw oil everywhere in the process.

I remember the guys in my high school used this to zap their buddies! They thought about it as good entertainment. And surprisingly... the victims laughed with them!

That sounds a lot like high school in the US!

When I was in high school a creepy friend of mine made a concealable cattle prod by hooking up 8 nine-volt batteries to a retractable probe. His victims did not laugh. He was not a very popular kid.
