Scarfy scarfiness

Muslim headscarves (jilbab) on display at Centro department store, not far from the Foofy Foofiness clothes I talked about earlier. They come in all sorts of styles, from snug-fitting to big and drapy, from sparkly/lacey to plain. Some women seem to have a different one for every outfit, while others have a few neutral colors that go with everything.

i'm curious whether you've seen women trying these on - i suppose the protocol would require them to go into a dressing room so as not to expose their hair?

That's an interesting point. I don't think I have ever seen anyone try them on ... although I don't spend a lot of time in stores. And Indonesians are seen as pretty relaxed in their application of Islam, so people might bend the rules.
