Are you sure they sell chestnuts? Chestnuts don't grow in Indonesia, I think. I tend that they sell "jengkol" or "kluwek".

Aha, I bet you're right! I've never eaten chestnuts here. These things did look exactly like them. Kluwek are the things that make rawon black, right?
